Read a short note from Dr. Amit Arwindekar on World Sleep Day:

world-sleep-day

“The National Sleep Foundation recommends that adults get somewhere between 7 – 9 hours of sleep each night.1 All too often, however, we find ourselves getting far less sleep than we need. The scientific term for not getting enough sleep is known as sleep deprivation. It can lead to various health issues, including poor memory, less energy, slowed thinking and a reduced attention span.2

With so many negative ramifications, the importance of World Sleep Day cannot be taken for granted. This year, the slogan for World Sleep Day 2022 is ‘Quality Sleep, Sound Mind, Happy World.’3 Prolonged fatigue, whether at the workplace or in the home, can impact your mental, physical and emotional health. If you struggle to get the recommended shut-eye, adhere to basic rules such as reducing your phone usage or caffeine consumption before bed. If the issue persists, speaking to a doctor is important to ensure there are no other issues you’re currently unaware of.” - Dr. Amit Arwindekar, Medical Director, North America, UnitedHealthcare Global
