A short note from Dr. David Wang on World Lung Cancer Day:

Sunday, 1st August 2021 marks World Lung Cancer Day, a global movement to defeat lung cancer and educate people on the risks and importance of early detection through screenings. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), lung cancer is responsible for nearly 1 in 5 cancer-related deaths and kills more people yearly than breast, colon, and prostate cancers combined. By 2030, lung cancer morality is projected to reach 2.45 million, a 39% increase in just over a decade.1

Smoking is the single greatest risk factor for developing lung cancer at 80% of cases.2 Education on these risk factors can help avoid individuals from taking up smoking and quit if they already do.The earlier symptoms are detected the easier it is to treat them. Make sure you attend regular check-ups and speak to your GP if you’re unsure about anything. - Dr. David Wang, Associate Medical Director APAC, Global Solutions
