world-breastfeeding-weekThe week we recognise World Breastfeeding Week, which aims to highlight the huge benefits that breastfeeding can bring to both the health and welfare of babies, as well as a wider push for maternal health, focusing on good nutrition, poverty reduction and food security. This year will focus on how breastfeeding contributes to the survival, health, and wellbeing for all, and the importance of protecting breastfeeding worldwide.

A study suggests that breastfeeding could save over 800,000 children’s lives a year worldwide.1 World Breastfeeding Week promotes the benefits of breastfeeding by encouraging the use for counseling, education, and immediate support. - Dr. Shoba Subramanian, Medical Director, Europe, UnitedHealthcare Global
