June 12th to June 18th is Men's Health Week

Research indicates that regular visits to primary health services are linked to better health outcomes and longer life expectancy.1 However, in many situations, men are less likely to access healthcare than women. Men are therefore more likely to die from avoidable and preventable diseases.2

Men’s Health Week was created by Men’s Health Network (MHN) as a time to bring awareness to health issues that affect men disproportionately with a focus on getting men to become aware of problems they may have or could develop and gain the courage to do something about it.

Organisers behind Men’s Health Week have developed the Man MOT and Man MOT for the Mind - interactive manuals that help men check everything from their heads to their hearts, encouraging individuals to get fit and active as well as boost their mental wellbeing.3

At UnitedHealthcare Global, we encourage all men to continue the conversation and speak up about their physical and mental health. Even if feeling fine, it is important to get into the habit of monitoring one’s health. If you or anyone you know is experiencing unusual symptoms, it is important to visit a primary care physician to access clinical advice or treatment as needed.

To help support physical and mental health, UnitedHealthcare Global offers all members access to My Wellbeing and LiveWell. My Wellbeing is an interactive physical and mental health platform that updates in real-time to reflect how lifestyle choices can affect health. LiveWell offers on-demand programmes and resources such as self-assessments and mental health screeners. Contact a Unitedhealthcare Global representative for a company access code for My Wellbeing and LiveWell.
