Read a short note from Dr Alex Rowe about Movember or Men's Health Awareness Month:

movember

Men’s Health Awareness Month is a global movement that urges men to take action to live healthier, happier and longer lives. According to the ‘Movember’ movement, globally men die on average 6 years earlier than women.1 The four main cause areas contributing to this statistic are mental health, suicide, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.2 There really is no time to waste in taking action and encouraging men to talk more, be more active, and learn more about their health and wellbeing.

This November, why not take part in the ‘Movember’ movement? Whilst growing a moustache might not be possible for everyone, you can still donate, engage, and join the conversation to encourage positive changes in men’s health. A few ways people are getting involved this year include running or walking 60km over the month and hosting a ‘mo’-ment or ‘mo’ in your own way.3 By bringing awareness to men’s health, we will hopefully see fewer men dying prematurely. - Dr Alex Rowe, Associate Medical Director, Europe, UnitedHealthcare Global
