A short note from Dr. Phil Sharples on International Nurses Day:

Today is International Nurses Day, an important day for all of us to support and celebrate nurses all over the world. The theme for this year’s International Nurses Day is ‘Nurses: A Voice to Lead - A vision for future healthcare’ – a forward looking theme, putting nurses at the centre of the healthcare conversation.

This last year has shown how critically important nurses are to healthcare delivery, from an intensive care nurse in the ICU, to a nurse in the community managing a vaccination programme - it is safe to say that nurses are truly leading the fight against COVID-19 and all of us are extremely grateful for this. The selfless commitment of nurses to support patients around the world sadly leaves them at a greater risk of infection from viruses such as COVID-19. In many countries, nurses are the biggest healthcare worker group with a COVID-19 infection1. As we look forward to the year ahead, join UnitedHealthcare Global in thanking nurses for their endless hard work and positivity they bring to people across the world. - Dr. Phil Sharples, Chief Medical Officer, Global Solutions, UnitedHealthcare Global
